Certified Medication Aide (CMA) Training Program

Eligibility Requirements
To enroll in the Medication Aide Program in Texas, applicants must:

Be at least 18 years old

Be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

Hold a high school diploma or GED

Be free of communicable diseases and in good physical and emotional health

Have been employed for at least 90 days in the past year as either:

A nurse aide in a Medicare- or Medicaid-certified nursing facility, or
-
A non-licensed direct care staff member in a facility or home health agency
-

Not have a criminal background that would disqualify them under HHSC guidelines
-
Not be listed as unemployable on the Texas Employee Misconduct Registry (EMR)

Not have a revoked or suspended status on the Nurse Aide Registry (NAR)
